As a part of the Young African Leaders Series for the Conference on Leadership in Africa, IDS alumni sat down to talk openly with CoLiA about Post-Conflict Reconstruction in Africa, the Fulbright Scholarship, the Ohio University African Student Union, the Bokamoso Leadership Forum, working with the legendary African author Zakes Mda, the National Conference of Black Political Scientists, research in Sudan and Rwanda, Women and Peace building in Africa, Xenophobia, women‘s civil liberties... and so very much more!

INTERNATIONAL STUDIES FORUM FALL SCHEDULE

The schedule for the Fall International Studies Forum Series can be found
online at http://www.internationalstudies.ohio.edu/news-events/intrntl-studies-
forum.html The series will kick off on Friday, October 1 with a presentation
by Dr. Kelechi A. Kalu, Director of the Center for African Studies at The Ohio
State University. Dr. Kalu will present "Nigeria at 50: Political Independence
and Transformational Development." All International Studies Forum
presentations are held at 3pm in Walter Hall 145

Former President of Bostwana Visits Athens!

Former president of Bostwana Festus Mogae will present a public
lecture at Ohio University on Monday, September 27 at 7:30pm in the Baker CenterBallroom on the topic of African Leadership and Socioeconomic Development. Thislecture is free and open to the public. A reception will follow. Please stop by!

Former president Festus Mogae presented an engaging lecture on African leadership in Africa and national economic intiatives of Bostwana in diamond minning and education. After his delivery the audience had the opportunity to ask question about his presidency as well as issues of development in Africa. Gibbs Kanyongo is a 1998 graduate of the International
Development Studies Program. He later completed his PhD in
Educational Research and Evaluation from the College of Education here
at Ohio University in 2004. Currently Dr.Kanyongo is a tenured Associate
Professor of Educational Statistics and Research at Duquesne University in
Pittsburgh.
